Dorothy Ann Hayes

Dorothy Ann (Dotty) was born on August 2nd, 1923. Living in Portland, she peacefully passed away on September 20, 2019 surrounded by family. Her parents were E. Dwight & Gertrude Barton.

She was married to Wally Hayes in 1946 and celebrated their 73rd anniversary on June 29th.  She raised three wonderful children; Norm, Gary & Diane and they were always very close to her.

She lived with her family in Eastmoreland for 40 years before moving to a condominium on the Willamette River where she loved watching the boats pass by.

Dotty led a good life and kept busy raising her three children. She attended Vernon Grammar School, Jefferson High School and Oregon State University.

 She is survived by her husband Wally, brother Earl, three children, 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She loved dancing with her husband to big band music around Portland and on their travels.  They were members at the Eastmoreland Club for Dancing, and danced their way around town in dance halls like Jantzen Beach Golden Canopied Ballroom, Palai Royale, and others.  She also enjoyed traveling with her husband to many countries around the world.  Dotty was socially active, including being a member of Klatawa in high school and Alpha Delta Pi at Oregon State. She and husband Wally were members of the Moreland Presbyterian Church.  Her service will be held at Riverview Abbey at 1 PM on Friday the 27th of September 2019.
