Douglas Delano Obituary

Douglas Howard Delano, 78 years of age, Newberg, Oregon, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2018 in Portland Oregon surrounded by his family.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 15th at the Pacific NW Truck Museum at 3995 Brooklake Road, Brooks, Oregon with a reception and private museum access from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.

Douglas was born on February 22, 1940 in Portland, Oregon to Leonard and Emily Delano.  He married Jennie Johnson Delano in July 1963 in Milwaukee, Oregon.  He attended Milwaukie High School, Multnomah Junior College, and Portland State University.  

He worked as a salesman for 14 years at Berry Criswell Company in Portland. In 1976, he moved his family to Newberg to become the owner/operator of Arrow Drilling for the next 20 years. Doug was very involved in his community as a member of the Elks Lodge, Newberg Rotary, First Presbyterian Church.  In addition, he was a charter member of the Early Ford V/8 Club, a member of the American Truck Historical Society (both national and local), Portland Swap Meet Committee and the Oregon Ground Water Association.

He was President and Chairman of the Board of the Pacific NW Truck Museum and a member of the Board of Directors for Antique Powerland Museum Association, the NW Car Collectors Association, and Oregon Ground Water Association.

Doug is preceded in death by his parents and his infant daughter Erin.  He is survived by his wife Jennie, daughters Darcie (Jeff) LaFountaine of Salem, Lynette (John) Cuthbertson of Auckland, New Zealand, and Julie Delano of Newberg: 3 grandsons, his brother Leonard (Roberta) Delano, as well as nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pacific NW Truck Museum and First Presbyterian Church of Newberg.
