Marilyn Hoffman unexpectedly passed away on July 31, 2019. A devoted wife, mother and sister, she was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 1, 1948. She is survived by her husband Phil, her daughter Kathryn, her son in law Jason, and her brother Malcolm. Marilyn was 71 years old when she passed.
She was a true kind, sweet loving soul. Marilyn always put everyone else first: family, friends, or strangers. She was one of the helpers in this world. Marilyn was a giver and a lover of her family, humanity, culture, travel, art, style and grace.
Marilyn lived in Michigan, Alabama, and spent several years in China, before settling in Portland, Oregon. She was an Elementary school teacher and later a volunteer teacher’s aide. Marilyn loved surrounding herself with the beauty in this world and was naturally talented in interior decorating. She enjoyed walking around the neighborhoods of Portland, attending concerts in the parks and traveling all around the world. Her favorite time was time spent with her family for holidays, celebrations and special mother daughter outings.
Her ashes have been lovingly scattered off the Pacific coast of Oregon. Marilyn was loved by all who met her and she will be greatly missed, but her spirit will live on in all our hearts. Memorial donations can be made on Marilyn’s behalf to Multnomah County Trauma Intervention Program. www.tipnw.org
