Benjamin Kofi Allotey Allotey, Sr.

Mr. Benjamin K. A. Allotey, Sr. was born on August 1, 1947 to parents Nii-Kpakpo Allotey Allotey and Esther Ajoa-Awusuba Atta Johnson in Accra, Ghana. He was raised in the Catholic Christian religion. He attended primary school in Accra growing up, and later Aquenace College in Ghana.

Benjamin left Ghana in 1971 and traveled to New York City in the United States of America, where he settled for a year. He later found his way to Portland, Oregon, where he continued his education studying Retail Merchandising. In 1973, he met his soon-to-be wife, Melvenia, and they were officially married in 1981. To this union, three children were born; Monica Adoley Tetteh, Benjamin Kofi Allotey, Jr., and Melvin Antonio Allotey.

Benjamin, Sr. was an avid businessman all his life. He had several successful business ventures such as Benall Sales and Supply, and ExIm Chemical Co. just to name a couple. He was very much a people person and loved networking and showing hospitality to everyone he encountered. He was an intelligent and strong leader; a loving husband, father, and grandfather; as well as brother and good friend to many. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by; his daughter, Monica Adoley Allotey Tetteh (Bernard); sons, Benjamin Kofi Allotey, Jr. (Lashon), and Melvin Antonio Allotey; brother, Emmanuel Ofoe Setordjie (Susan); nephews, Sebastian Nii Adotey Allotey, Emmanuel Nii Adotei Allotey, Edwin Nii Adoquie Allotey, and Nolan Ofoe Setordjie; nieces, Luwcia Naa Adotey Allotey, Vencentia Naa Adorkor Allotey, Francisca Naa Adokaley Allotey, and Mary Magdalene Naa Adotsoo Allotey; cousins, LTK Caesar of NY, Vida Caesar, Josephine Johson, Charity Hese, Sandra Moore, Theodora Johnson Sarah Odonkor, Alex Odonkor, Celestine Johnson, Mary Johnson, and Eustsce Asiedu Attah-Johnson; grandchildren, Husani Mosi Warren, Anla Warren, Eurydice Aiyana Scott, Sapphire Thomas, Naima Robinson, Solomon Allotey, Houston Benjamin Allotey, and others.

Benjamin was preceded in death by his wife, Melvenia Allotey; parents, Nii-Kpakpo Allotey Allotey, and Madam Esther Ajoa Atta Johnson; and older brother, Gilbert Nii Amponsah Allotey.
