Catherine Marcina passed away peacefully on October 20, 2021. She was born in Portland, Oregon, attended St. Patrick Catholic School and St. Mary’s Academy, class of 1950. Employed at ESCO Corporation in NW Portland for over forty years, she retired in 1994. For most of her life, she lived in the NW Portland neighborhood where she was raised but traveled extensively. Among her favorite destinations were the Mediterranean region, including Croatia, the childhood home of her parents. She also ventured to Asia, South America, and Mexico.
For over three decades, she brought her energy and giving spirit to Portland’s civic and cultural life as a volunteer at the Portland Visitors Bureau, the Portland Art Museum, Newmark Theatre, Pittock Mansion, and the Simon Benson House.
She is survived by her sister, Gina McMurran, her niece, Mary Helen McMurran, nephew, Lewis A. McMurran, and grand-nephews Stuart and Archer McMurran.
A private crypt blessing will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery on November 17.
