Dwayne DeBoer Obituary

Dwayne Edward DeBoer, 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 13, 2019 after a long battle with kidney failure.  He was surrounded by his beloved wife and two children - the ones he laughed with, lived for and loved.  He is now in his heavenly home with his Lord Jesus Christ.

Dwayne was born on October 6, 1941 in Hillsboro, Oregon to Luke and Dulcie DeBoer.  He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1960, and went on to attend Cascade College for one year.  He was a proud member of the Oregon National Guard.  He married his beloved wife Sharon on July 29, 1967, and he remained devoted to her for the next 52 years.

Dwayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, who enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, and listening to music. He was a beloved member of the Crossroads Church family, and he cherished the relationships he formed there. He was an avid sports fan, and he is now enthusiastically cheering on the Seattle Mariners, Portland Trailblazers and Dallas Cowboys from heaven.  He is walking and running down the streets of gold as he was unable to do for so many years. You might even see him practicing his golf swing for the first time in ages!  No matter what he’s doing, he’s greeting everyone with a firm handshake and the gentle smile he was known for.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Sharon (Hale) DeBoer; his son, Shaun DeBoer, and daughter, Julie DeBoer; and his three cherished grandchildren; Andrew DeBoer, Madelyn Hamness and Joelle DeBoer - as well as many extended family members and friends.

Dwayne is preceded in death by his father, Luke DeBoer; his mother, Dulcie DeBoer; his brother Floyd DeBoer; and his children, Lynn Marie DeBoer and Scott Kevin DeBoer.

Dwayne’s memorial service will be Saturday July 20, 2019 at 2:00pm at Crossroads Church in Portland.  It will be officiated by Pastors Chris Blair and Dennis Friesen.  He will be entombed at Riverview Abbey.  Tributes can be made at www.riverviewabbey.com.

We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing he has been to his family and friends. He will live forever in our hearts until we meet again.
