Father John Brouillard 95
October 18, 1928, Argyle, Minnesota ~ May 23, 2024, Beaverton, Oregon
Father John Brouillard passed away on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024, under the care of Maryville Memory Care Home in Beaverton, OR, where he had lived for the last few years. Smiling, peaceful, and pleasant, Father was loved by all at Maryville. Well into his 90’s, Fr. Brouillard generally offered few, if any, complaints. He expressed contentment and was in relatively good physical health. He had just lately begun to use a walker or a wheelchair at times.
Fr. Brouillard was blessed with a special niece and goddaughter who lived nearby. She ensured he had all he needed and visited as often as was possible and reasonable for his routine. During the COVID-19 period visits and outings fluctuated some in observance of health protocols and Fathers varying strength and stamina. He enjoyed celebratory birthday dinners and outings shared with his family.
Father also maintained contact with one of his oldest friends, a classmate from Central Catholic High School, who graduated with him in the 1940’s and also attended seminary with him for a time. This friend kept in touch by calling and visiting whenever possible, even if only by standing outside the window and talking on the phone. Father is also much remembered by his friends among the senor priests, especially those at St. John Vianney and Bishops Emeritus.
Father Brouillard long enjoyed attending daily Mass at Maryville, where he was able to wear his stole and concelebrate his from his seat.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. Father will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Portland.
