On Wednesday, May 19, 2021, Janet Miller Day passed away at the age of 87 in West Linn, Oregon. The youngest of three children of Charles and Jessie More Miller, Janet Ann Miller was born on August 27, 1933 in Portland, Oregon. Janet attended Grant High School, where she was a member of the Executive Council and elected to the Rose Festival Court representing Grant High School in 1951.
She graduated from the University of Oregon and, after careers as a 4th grade teacher and a United Airlines flight attendant, married James Robert Day and settled in Denver, Colorado. Janet and Jim were later divorced, and Janet remained in Denver until 2015 when she returned to Oregon.
Although she spent several decades in Denver raising her family, Janet never lost her love and passion for Oregon and especially the Oregon Coast. Her ready wit, infectious laughter and tremendous curiosity brightened and enriched the lives of all she met. Janet was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, and is survived by her two children, Jeffrey Day and Kirsten Day, and four grandchildren.
A private family memorial service will be held at a future date.
