Julia (Judi) was born in Portland, Oregon to Billie and William Crooks. She graduated from Grant High School in 1970 and joined U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego. There she cared for Vietnam marines coming back from the war.
After receiving an honorable discharge, Judi graduated from Good Samaritan Hospital and Medical Center School of Nursing. As registered RN, she worked for the Red Cross in Portland and San Diego specializing in apheresis for cancer patients. She then went on to work for Fresenius Dialysis Center until she retired.
In addition to her nursing career, Judi became a licensed massage therapist who donated her time at Cello Cancer Center in The Dalles. There she provided the "Healing Touch" to cancer patients.
Judi had a great love for animals, rescuing two greyhounds and numerous cats. She had a great passion for cruises to tropical areas and loved snorkeling and hanging out on the beach. She loved her family and spending time with her nieces and nephews who tremendously enjoyed her killer wit. Judi was a special person, full of compassion and generous with her time and talent.
She was predeceased by her Parents, and her sister Christie Maddocks and brother-in-law John. She is survived by her siblings Bill Crooks (Susie), John Crooks (Bernadette), Mary Bailey, Patty Hill (Franklin), and Carrie LaPlaca (Dan), and numerous nieces and nephews.
