Mary Lou Grimes passed away suddenly of natural causes on November 24th. She was born November 7, 1958 in Portland, Oregon to James and Marleen Gravley. She attended Valley Catholic in elementary school and later graduated from Beaverton High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Portland State University.
Mary Lou spent four years after college in Washington, DC. While there, she worked for the National Endowment for the Arts and as a congressional staffer. She made many lifelong friendships during that time.
After returning to Oregon, she worked in the insurance industry before taking time off to raise children. She later started her own interior design firm, and she was certifying to tutor children with dyslexia. She was active in the Our Lady of the Lake and Jesuit High School communities.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 24 years, Chris, her daughters Eleanor (19) and Emma (17), her sister Melissa Carter, and countless friends. She was an incredibly devoted wife and mother. Mary Lou left us many wonderful memories of her spirit, her sense of humor, her generosity, her faith, her love, and the incredibly bright light that shown from within her. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Lake Oswego on December 10th, 11:00 am.
