Patricia “Pat” Ann Michaud, nee Eagan, died March 12, 2025 after 84 years of carving out spaces for her talents and ambition when the world didn’t always make that easy.
She was a beloved teacher, a talented traditional rug hooker, a devoted friend and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She built a rich community of friends during her 26 years in Oregon, where she and her husband Norman Michaud moved after retirement. She was an active member of rug hooking and needlework groups, and regularly came home from an annual camp filled with fun stories, new patterns and too much wool. For years, she cleaned and pressed altar linens at her parish, Our Lady of the Lake. She was devoted to her church and faith.
Every three years, she and Norm gathered their four kids and their spouses, eight grandchildren and – making his debut this past summer – one great-grandchild, for a family reunion that rotated between each of their children’s home states. Their commitment to gathering the family for meals, laughter, local attractions and wine kept the family connected, and allowed siblings, in-laws and cousins to become friends as well as family.
Pat was born on January 19, 1941 in Lynn, Massachusetts, the older of Stanislawa “Stella” and J. Edward Eagan’s two daughters. Pat helped raise her sister Betty, who was born when she was eight – she told a story of being called in by one of Betty’s teachers because the younger Eagan had changed the grades on her report card to avoid upsetting their mother.
She cared deeply for her family and her community. She loved teaching and channeled her creativity into so many areas. The world was better with her grace and beautiful smile.
Her surviving family are a testament to her love and sheer force of will: Her husband, Norm; her four children, David (Kelli), Christine (Christopher), Marc (Christine), and Neil (Jessica); her eight grandchildren, Erin, Maggie (Michael), Ryan (Becca), Madeline, Mathieu, Elizabeth, Eagan and Sophia; and her great-grandson, Sage.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 28th at 10:00 am at the chapel at Mary’s Woods at 17400 Holy Names Drive, Lake Oswego, Oregon. All are welcome to join a reception to follow at the Nathman Center at Mary’s Woods. Donations may be made to Mary’s Woods Residents Fund https://maryswoods.org/about/giving/ in Pat’s honor.
