Richard William Loewe

Rick Loewe passed away on February 2, 2023 in his home in Beaverton, Oregon, surrounded by his family. He had been sick for the last several months and was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Rick was born March 9, 1953 in Greenbrae, California, to Eleanor Lucille Burdisso and William August Loewe, Jr. He grew up in the heart of San Francisco in the Sunset District. He attended St. Gabriel School and Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory. Rick received his bachelor of science degree in Agricultural Economics and Business Management from the University of California, Davis. Rick’s career was in retail management.

In 1983, Rick met the love of his life, Christine Anne Hansen, and they were married in 1984 in San Francisco, California. They were married for 38 years and raised two wonderful daughters. In 1992, a career change brought the family to Oregon.

Rick loved to eat, especially family dinners. Rick also enjoyed traveling. One of his favorite family vacations was visiting Hawaii. Rick was an avid sports fan. He played varsity tennis in high school and followed baseball, football and basketball. His favorite teams were the San Francisco Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Oregon Ducks, Golden State Warriors, and Portland Trail Blazers. He was excellent at spelling and mental math. You could ask him to calculate just about any equation and he could give you the answer in a few seconds. Rick never knew a stranger. He got to know everyone he met and loved making personal connections with people. He will be missed by many.

Rick is survived by his wife, Christine; children, Sarah and her husband, TJ, Hannah and her husband, Dan; 1 grandchild with 1 more on the way; and brother, Paul. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Eleanor; and loving dog, Camo.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, at Riverview Abbey Funeral Home in Portland, Oregon.
