Robert Arnold Tidwell, 61, of Rainier, Oregon, passed away on September 4, 2025. He was born October 4, 1963, to Roy and Rosa Marie Tidwell and grew up in Prineville, Oregon, where he developed a love for the outdoors and a determination to work hard at everything he did.
As a young man, Robert served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Washington, D.C., an experience that shaped his faith and outlook on life. He later attended Ricks College before settling in St. Helens, Oregon, where he married Angie and together they raised two children, Ranae and Tyler. Being a father was one of Robert’s greatest blessings.
In time, his role as a grandpa became the highlight of his life. He adored his seven grandchildren—Preslee, Zoey, Brooklyn, Callie, Cooper, Macie, and Emmett. Robert was known for showing up to every visit with a new toy or surprise for the kids, and he built countless memories with them through his playful, caring spirit.
Robert was admired for his incredible work ethic and his unique talent for chainsaw carving. His artwork captured his creativity and left an impression on everyone who saw it. He also loved fishing the Columbia River, especially with his son, Tyler. Their fishing trips—sometimes stretching on for days—were times Robert treasured deeply.
He is survived by his children, Ranae (Matt) and Tyler (Aspen); his beloved grandchildren; his parents, Roy and Rosa Marie Tidwell; his three brothers, Richard, Max (Marcia), and Marty (Melanie); and his sister, Lynnette (Brent).
Those who knew Robert will remember his dedication to family, his creativity, and his love for the outdoors. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, artistry, and devotion to the people he loved most.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at 2755 Sykes Rd, St Helens, OR 97051, to honor and celebrate his life.
