Sally Ann Kamman passed away peacefully at her home in Newcastle Washington on January 29th surrounded by family.
She was born on July 26, 1927 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Ida and Oval Quist. Sally met her husband, Paul W. Kamman (Bill), at Roosevelt High School. Both attended the University of Iowa, where Sally performed in the Scottish Highlanders bagpipe and drum band.
Sally and Bill were married on August 20, 1949. In 1960 they moved from Chicago to Portland, Oregon, where they raised 3 children.
In the late 1970s, Sally earned her master’s degree and taught hearing-impaired students in Portland. She lost Bill in 1996, but continued to live a full, active life. Her optimism and love of adventure led to many travels, elder hostels, and cherished visits to her children and grandchildren. Sally was a member of the local PEO where she developed close friendships that lasted throughout her life.
After the pandemic, Sally moved from Lake Oswego to Newcastle, Washington to be near family. She was known for her positivity, kindness, and ever-present smile, touching everyone she met.
Sally is survived by her three children: Lynn (Casey), Trent (Dodie), and Kathy (Mike); seven grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 28, at 2 p.m. at Oaks Pioneer Church, 455 SE Spokane St., Portland, OR 97202.
A reception will follow at The Lake Oswego Country Club, 20 Iron Mountain Blvd., Lake Oswego, OR 97034, from 4:00–6:00 p.m.
