Official Obituary of
Sandra Faye Johnson
September 4, 1939 – September 25, 2025 (Age 86)
Sandra Faye Johnson passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, in Lake Oswego, Oregon, at the age of 86.
Sandy (“Bunny” to family) was born on September 4, 1939 in St. Louis, MO, to Marvin and Glenda Graves. After high school, Sandy earned a bachelor of arts in elementary education, which led to her first career teaching the fourth grade, then later teaching homebound children, both in the St. Louis area. She subsequently worked as a safety administrator at Amtrak’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., allowing her train-adoring family to travel the United States extensively by rail.
Sandy’s second career as an accountant included positions with the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon and West Linn Lutheran Church, among others. A lifelong teacher at heart, she also taught accounting to adults at Portland Community College and Pioneer Pacific College.
An avid gardening enthusiast, Sandy worked tirelessly to beautify one of her most cherished places, the garden at Lake Oswego United Church of Christ. She truly loved the community and fellowship the church provided her over the years, teaching Sunday school, serving as the Treasurer, volunteering with the Mission Committee and the Lake Oswego Transitional Shelter Ministry, and participating in the Sojourners support group.
Of the countless personal accomplishments in her life, Sandy considered being a mom the greatest of all. She often spoke of fond memories of watching her three young sons play in Prince William Forest Park in Virginia. Sandy also enjoyed hosting family dinners for her extended family over the years.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Marvin “Lon” Graves; her former husband and father of her children, Harold Johnson; and her stepfather, Robert Mackintosh. She is survived by her sons, Scott (Carla), Eric (Ginny), and Stephen; her grandson, Erich (Rachel); her step-grandchildren, Tyler (Kelsey) and Lisa; her great-granddaughter, Everly; and her step-great-grandchildren, Zayden, Colton and Dean.
