Sharon Brumbaugh was born on November 14th,1938 in SE Portland to Harold C. Brumbaugh and Joann G. Brumbaugh and older sister, Suzann (Sue). Sharon and Sue were led to the Lord at their young age through their neighbor, Sarah Wold, who took them to Sunday School at Glencoe Baptist Church every single week.
Sharon graduated from Franklin High School and started work at Tektronix where she designed circuit boards and advanced to a supervisor in her department, eventually spending 35 years with the company. Sharon co-owned and operated a bakery called The Old Holland Cookie Company in the Jansen Beach Mall with her best friend Alice. They were very passionate about their small business, baking amazing cookies, cakes, and cinnamon rolls. Sharon’s famous snickerdoodle recipe has been passed down through the family and will live well beyond her.
Sharon loved the outdoors of the Pacific Northwest and had camping and boating trips to Prineville and East Lake, along with many extended trips all across the states in her and Alice’s travel camper. She loved to hunt, fish, clam, crab, as well as golf. Sharon especially enjoyed going out on the river in her boat and water skiing with her family and friends.
She was capable of it all—from changing a light bulb to a tire, planting a garden, yard work, or house improvements—she never lost her drive or tenacity to fight for
adventure and life during her 86 years.
As she attributed the beginning of her faith to the neighbor who introduced her to Jesus, Sharon was committed to ministry in her own backyard, too. Through the years, Sharon and Alice put together hundreds of supply boxes for Operation Christmas Child, a charity who sends essentials and toys to children overseas for Christmas. They also attended Village Church faithfully for many years and took two younger neighbor girls to church every week, witnessing to them and leaving a lasting impression on their lives.
Sharon was surrounded by family and enjoyed her favorite view of the mountains from home until her final day. She was preceded by her sister, Suzann Anderson and her mother and father, Joann & Harold Brumbaugh. She is survived by her best friend, Alice Bryan, her niece & nephew, Cheryl McLaughlin and Randy (Marsha) Anderson, her great niece & nephews, Kaitlyn (Laur) Willow, Mathew (Megan) McLaughlin, Joseph (Stephanie) Tipton, Nathan (Breana) McLaughlin, and Austin (Sarah) Anderson, along with great-great nieces and nephews, Mailey, Rhaella, Elijah, Rylan, Ryden, Jett, Carter, and Mordecai, along with many friends and neighbors she loved along the way.
