Shirley Urban Gaussoin was born October 3, 1934 in Portland to Frank and Ethel Urban. She was a woman of devout faith who loved Jesus and loved others. Shirley always wore a smile that lit up every room she walked into and a twinkle in her eye that conveyed her spirit of adventure. Even while battling Parkinson's disease, she looked for ways to encourage and help others.
Shirley graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Oregon State University where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She was also a member of the Multnomah Athletic Club and Oswego Lake Country Club. Shirley and her husband Roy, ardent supporters of OSU Beaver athletics, enjoyed countless OSU trips with lifelong friends. Maui was her favorite destination and family time spent in their Makena home created memories that will be cherished forever.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Roy; daughters, Amy Gaussoin Burger (Gary) and Karen Scott (Adrian); grandchildren, Allyson, Rachael, Aidan, Olivia and Hope; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Darling; and sisters, Laurie Mollencop (Jerry) and Vikki Johnson (Craig). Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Stuart Gaussoin.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2020, at Mt. Park Church, Lake Oswego.
Remembrances may be made to the OSU Foundation and Mt. Park Church.
