Steven Johnson Obituary

Always looking forward to the next great adventure, Steve was prepared for his ultimate one as he passed peacefully from this Earthly life into Eternal life.

Enveloped by the strong bond of Love from his family, he passed straight into the embrace of his beloved Saviour Jesus Christ, together with his loved ones in heaven who eagerly welcomed him home with open arms.

Steve relished every second of life here on earth and lived it to the fullest.  He loved his Family with all of his heart and tried his hardest to stay with them for as long as he could, but He also talked about how wonderful life in Heaven would be and the Joy of all being together as an Eternal Family….Together Forever!

Steven Charles Johnson, son of Johnnie and Kay Johnson, was born December 17, 1957 and passed away August 28th 2021.  Strong and Active right up to the end with just a short 3 week battle with stage four pancreatic cancer.

It was FAST and it was CRAZY...he died the same way he lived.

The way he would want it.

He was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and had a wonderful childhood on Alameda St. with all his siblings and neighborhood friends.  Steve graduated from Grant High School in 1976, then served an honorable 2 year Mission in Arizona for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 1977-1979.  He then graduated from Brigham Young University in 1985 with a Bachelor's degree in Finance.

Steve met his soulmate, Paula Ann Spear, at a Church dance in Portland.  They were married for Time and All Eternity in the Seattle, Washington Temple on September 15, 1982.  They made sacred covenants to each other that they honored in this life and will continue to honor throughout eternity.  Steve is a valiant man of God, standing for truth and righteousness as a Mighty Warrior in God’s Army.

They enjoyed College Life in Provo for 4 years while Steve attended BYU and Paula owned a Nail Salon.  Those were fun filled years making lifelong friendships and happy memories.  After graduation they moved to the San Francisco Bay area where Steve worked as an Investment Real Estate Broker.  They moved 5 times in 5 yrs, buying and selling homes.  They loved their time in California, but moved back to Oregon in 1990 to be closer to Steve’s family.

Steve and Paula were excited to start their own family.  It took 8 long years to finally be blessed with their first child.  Brock Julius Johnson was born October 22, 1990 and Ariel Ruby Johnson joyfully arrived 2 years later on October 3rd 1992.  His children were his world.  Steve would do anything for them, and quickly went to work building a home, a business, and a secure future for them.  He started “Steve Johnson Investment Realty” brokering for other investors and to buy properties for himself.  His business was his passion which led to many other Real Estate development projects.  He was a man of many talents, interests and numerous hobbies.  No one could keep up with him in the hobby department, he had too many to count and all were very unique.  Some favorite hobbies included his salt water aquariums, remote control cars, boats, and planes.  He enjoyed fly fishing, sailing, surfing, skiing, wakeboarding, and riding his horse.

Steve saw the world differently, he could take the most mundane “piece of junk” object and create something absolutely magical, a true work of art.  He had a special talent for seeing the beauty in everything.  There was nothing he could not do.  If someone said it could not be done then he said…..WATCH ME!!!  And he would do it far above anyone else’s dreams or expectations.

He became a pilot and so of course decided to start building an airplane in the basement of their home.  Ariel loved to help rivet the parts together and he taught her to do it perfectly at 9 years old.  His plane turned out beautifully and there was nothing he enjoyed more than taking anyone who wanted to go up into the sky!  He loved flying high and getting a fresh perspective of life, it energized him.

He also had a passion for buying vintage cars and restoring them to their former glory.  He enjoyed driving them up to Crown Point on Sundays with his sweetheart to watch the sunset over the beautiful Columbia Gorge.  A favorite pastime of theirs.

Building things was in his blood, a house, a barn, a cabin, a bench, a swing, a gate, it didn't matter what it was.  He loved designing things and making them with his own two hands.  He used his creative genius and amazing artistic talents as a way to serve other people.  A present from Steve was always a brilliant work of Art.

His most recent adventure was creating “The Hawthorne Asylum Food Cart Pod” with his son Brock.  Everywhere you look there are unique creations that they designed and built side by side.  Their vision together continues on with Brock at the helm.

Steve has left an incredible legacy that will live on throughout generations to come.  We can only imagine the amazing things he is doing in Heaven now.  Whatever it is, we know it will be GLORIOUS!!!

Steve is survived by his wife Paula Johnson.  His son Brock Johnson, daughter in law Hannah Hardin Johnson and their three incredible boys River, Scout and Forest.  His daughter Ariel Williams, son in law Dr. Jon Williams and their  beautiful daughters Maple, and Willow, who was already in heaven to greet her Papa the moment he stepped through the veil.  What a joyous reunion!  Along with Willow were surely his parents Johnnie and Kay, his sister Nanci and many other loved ones.

No doubt a “YEAH BABY” was echoing through the concourses of angels - Steve’s Signature expression.

He is survived by his sister Patti Paxson, her husband Paul and their children.  His brother John Johnson, his wife Karen and their children.  His brother Josh Johnson, his wife Traci and their children.  And many other dear and beloved relatives.

Earth is not the same without you here Steve…… We will see you in Heaven
