Susan J. Stanley, age 75, of Portland, Oregon, passed away on Tuesday, March 18th at her place of residence at Brightway at Laurel Parc.
Susan was born on May 26th, 1949, in Portland, Oregon, to Delbert and Anita Mannan. She grew up most of her life in Springfield, Oregon. One of four kids, Susan was always the mothering type and loved being the second mom to her brothers and sisters.
She graduated, with honors, from Springfield High School in 1967. She then went on to a business college for a year.
Susan married Duane in 1969, after a writing courtship between the two of them while he was serving in Vietnam. They had their only daughter, Renae, in June 1973.
She worked her way up from being a secretary into Human Resources. While doing this, Susan also attended college, nearly finishing her degree. She worked for Marketing One, and then finished her career at Albertina Kerr.
Susan was an avid reader, and absolutely loved a good book, from mysteries to real-life stories. She was a strong, passionate woman who gave her whole heart to everyone, and had a smile that could light up a room with pure joy. Her compassion was truly remarkable.
Susan was an amazing wife, mom, and grandma. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, taking them to the zoo, children’s museum, parks, the beach, and so much more.
Susan is survived by her husband of 54 years, Duane; daughter, Renae; grandchildren, Rachel and Bryan; great grandchild, Jace; brother, Kent; and sisters, Kathy and Linda.
We are truly blessed by her memories.
