Vincent (Vince) Torchia was born, February 05, 1936 in Portland Oregon to Samuel (Sam) Torchia and Helen Parise. Vince sadly passed away July 11, 2026.
Vince attended Central Catholic and Cleveland High Schools. He graduated from The University of Portland with a degree in Business Management and was part of the ROTC program. He joined the US Airforce after graduation.
His journey to Sheridan Fruit Company started in high school and is where he met his wife of 63 years, Carol Poleo. They worked together in the family business for many years. Seeing their family grow up in the business meant everything to both of them. He cared greatly for his employees and customers. Service and quality was very important. Their dedication to business and community-built Sheridan into a beloved place for many.
Vince loved spending time with his family. Helping his grandchildren with homework and attending sports and school functions was very important to him. He enjoyed vacationing in Hawaii and Sun River, golfing at Columbia Edgewater Country Club and lunch and dinners with family and friends. He shared his passion for sports with his grandchildren. Vince had a love for guitars and enjoyed playing songs at home and taking additional lessons with a dear friend. Vince was a devout Catholic and attended St Therese, St Elizabeth’s of Hungary and Our Lady of The Lake online mass.
Vince is preceded in death by his parents Sam and Helen Torchia, his wife Carol (Poleo) Torchia, his sister Rose (Parise) Howe and son-in-law Tom Barwick. Vince is survived by his sister Mary Jean Parise, his daughter Lori (Torchia) O’Leary (Sean O’Leary), grandchildren Sam and Samantha O’Leary, daughter Anne (Torchia) Barwick, grandchildren Justin Barwick (Caiti), great granddaughter Betty Barwick, grandson Joshua Barwick (Sachia) and great grandchildren Moses and Elouise Barwick.
