Wayne Olsen Obituary

Wayne Olsen passed away unexpectedly after a short illness on July 15, 2026, at the age of 63.  Wayne Robert Olsen was born on May 25, 1963 in Missoula, Montana, the first born to Don and Sue Olsen. The family lived an adventurous life and Wayne spent time in Montana, Colorado, Idaho, Alaska, and mostly in Oregon.  Wayne graduated from Lake Oswego high school in 1981 and then attended and graduated from Oregon State University in 1986 with a degree in Engineering.

Wayne began working for Northwest Geotech of Wilsonville, OR during his college days and continued after graduation from OSU until his retirement in 2024 after 37 years.

Wayne became a Professional Registered Civil Engineer in 1987 and was a longtime member of The Society of Civil Engineers.

Wayne enjoyed working and being out of doors.  He loved spending time near the ocean, mountains, rivers, and streams. He loved rafting, especially on The Deschutes. He was an avid Shooter and a proud lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Wayne was always witty with a great sense of humor which brought joy to any occasion.  He was an avid OSU Beaver sports fan especially Beaver baseball.

Wayne was proceeded in death by his sister Jennifer Olsen, his step mother Maureen Olsen, his uncles Don McPherson, Dave McPherson, Ronnie McPherson, Robert Olsen, Leroy Seccomb, his aunt Sally Harrington

He is survived by his parents, Don Olsen (Victoria Rich) Sue MacPherson (Gene McNaughton), his brother a

nd best friend, Dave Olsen (Elizabeth), his nieces Madison Tilander (Andrew Cable-Taylor), Maggie Agudelo (Juan), step sisters Jeannie Anoson (Jay), Shannon Johnson (Daniel), aunts Sandi Seccomb and Cathy Cashell-McPherson and many cousins.
